How It Works
BMR (Basal Metabolic Rate) is the number of calories your body needs to maintain basic life functions at rest.
Mifflin-St Jeor Equation:
- Men: (10 × weight kg) + (6.25 × height cm) - (5 × age) + 5
- Women: (10 × weight kg) + (6.25 × height cm) - (5 × age) - 161
This formula replaced the older Harris-Benedict equation in 1990 and is considered more accurate for modern populations.
